The Knights & Troops Of Bretonnia

While not as varied as armies like Empire or Orcs & Goblins, who have many different troops types and styles, Bretonnians are still a good army to use, the hard-hitting knights are well armoured and have lances which can devastate enemy units, whilst the lance formation allows them to attack more times than a normal calvary unit.

CORE UNITS:

Help them gain full Knighthood!Knights Errant:

These young nobles are trying to prove themselves as knights to gain Knight Of The Realm status, they have a lower WS than the KotR but are cheaper and can also carry the Errantry Banner, a useful item that can really help in a heroic charge.

Along with Men-At-Arms, Knight Of The Realm are the main body of a Bretonnian armyKnights Of The Realm:

The Knights Of The Realm have higher Ld and WS than Knights Errant but are also more costly in points. These knights have braved many perils and survived, gaining KotR status and great honour, some of these knights have castles and lands. The KotR are very useful, and they are a Core choice, too!

The bulk of most armies is formed of these formidable chapsMen-At-Arms:

Armed with either spear or halberd, these troops are not as hard-hitting as knights but are also way more numerous and make great backup when times get tough for your chivalric knights. Always take a full command or at least standard bearer and musician for they help with the combat results. Units of 15 to 19 are okay but I recommend at least 20 men in a unit. Men-At-Arms can also make a second wave of troops to assail your foes, coming after your knights have hit into the enemy troops.

SPECIAL UNITS:

Long range attacks are rare in Bretonnian armies.Bowmen:

As long-ranged attacks are a rarity in Bretonnia, Bowmen take up a Special slot, while being just as good as Empire archers they are not very worthwhile due to their high point cost and taking up a Special slot. Used well however they are just as useful as Empire archers, albeit more costly.

Squires help their masters take down the foes of chivalrySquires:

Knights-in-training and servants, the Squires have longbows and skirmish, a useful ability. One unit can be upgraded to Foresters who scout as well. More costly than Bowmen but for their cost they are well worth it. They are good for harassing enemy flanks with bow fire and also for stopping march moves.

They aren't Knights but are great for flanking the enemy.Mounted Squires:

Squires on horseback and with spears and longbows. The Mounted Squires are fast cavalry but cannot use the Lance Formation, these troops are good for charging flanks to panic the enemy. Can be equipt with shields for added protection.

RARE UNITS:

Your enemy will despair when your Questing Knights crush his units as if they were nothing!Questing Knights:

With S4 and the Questing Virtue(Immune to panic) the Questing Knights are well worth their points. The Questing Knights have taken up an Oath to complete the Grail Quest, which if they complete they will become Grail Knights. The minitures are hard to paint but if done well are some of the most beutiful minitures around.

These guys will smash apart your foes!Grail Knights:

Grail Knights have completed their Grail Quest and are now at the pinnacle of Knighthood, only one unit of these heroic troops can be fielded in your army, but they are very skilled, with WS5 and the Grail Virtue(Immune to psychology), these knights make an exellent unit to lead with a Duke or Paladin.

LORDS:

Dukes are the best warriors in Bretonnia, they look cool too!Dukes:

The Dukes are Knights with many lands and troops, they often lead units of other Knights into battle but can sometimes be found soaring through the air on Hippogriffs from the Massif Orcal or on a Pegasus, Dukes are costly like all Lords but have the best WS in the army. Can be given the Questing or Grail Virtues.

You enemy won't know what hit them when you take one of these women!Prophetesses Of The Lady:

Vastly skilled Damsels who can wield great magical power with ease, very expensive in points but worth it in larger armies. Unstoppable if you are fighting an army without any mages! Can ride a Pegasus or a Warhorse.

HEROES:

It is hard to match the courage of a Paladin!Paladins:

Exeptional Knights who lead armies into combat, Paladins are great warriors who have great skill, courage and strength. One of them must carry the army's Battle Standard.

These women protect your brave warriors from harmful magicDamsels Of The Lady:

Damsels are women who have been blessed by the Lady Of The Lake with the ability to use magic. Damsels will bring courage and hope to your men whilst blasting the enemy with harmful magical powers. Can ride Warhorses.
